Ormurin langi (Ormen hin Lange) is a Faroese chant about the Norweigan King Olav Tryggvason and his royal ship 'Ormen Lange'. The chant contains 86 verses and is written by the Faroese poet Jens Christian Djurhuus in the time period 1819-1823. It is often said that this chant is a national treasure of the Faroese people. Every Faroese person knows it and it has often been read and taught at schools.
