Biography

  • Years Active

    2006 – present (18 years)

417.3 is a post-rock / experimental band which was formed in 2006 in Rostov On Don, Russia.

Discography:
- -- (EP, 2008)
- _(-_-)_ (LP, 2011)
- 2 (LP, 2012)
- Live on the roof (Live, 2015)
- 34 (LP, 2016)

The line-up changed several times. From 2006 to 2008, the band consisted of two violins, double bass, guitar and drums.
In 2008, the band released the EP , consisting of 4 tracks and attracted the attention of the private American label SleepyTime Music.
Later that year two violins were replaced by a cello.

The band's musical direction has changed, as can be heard on their 2011 debut album _(-_-)_, which was recorded with a second guitarist who joined in 2010.
The first album consists of 10 tracks. Each of them runs an equal (but not the same) number of minutes. This is done in order to characterize the completeness of thoughts, the closure of the starting and ending points, which will eventually connect with each other. The transition of mood from depression to inspiration and euphoria can be traced in almost every track of the band 417.3.

in 2012, the band parted ways with a cellist and a double bass player, and a bassist and an electronic player took their place. The latter did not play in the band for long, but managed to take part in the formation of a new, heavier sound.
Mood transitions in music became more pronounced — from an explosion of emotions to a meditative immersion, from dark harmonies to light ones, and vice versa. This is reflected in the album 2, which was released in the same year.
The album was mastered by Cult of Luna drummer and sound engineer Magnus Lindberg. Mixing was done at the Rostov Studio Otherside Records.

In the following years, 417.3 actively performed live and created new material. The drummer changed.
The style of the band continued to evolve — new compositions became more melodic and rhythmic.

Im 2015, the musicians sat down in the studio to record a album album.
A promotional material was published on the website to support the recording of the album planeta.ru. The campaign was successful — many friends and fans wanted to help, and in July 2016, a new album was released — 34. Mixing and mastering was dons by American sound engineer Jack Shirley, owner of the Atomic Garden Studio, who has worked with Deafheaven, Loma Prieta, and many other bands.
