“K.” standing for Kristen, the name of the singer’s partner, the song describes the singer longing for their lover’s physical presence in a long-distance relationship, after having recently spent time together and departing from one another.
The song touches on the experiences and time the two of them shared, and how much the singer yearns to see her again.
The song was recorded in December 2015 in New York and was released on November 14th, 2016.
In an interview with Vogue France, Gonzalez explains:
"It was a girl I knew from my hometown. We had a long-distance relationship for a few months, and she came to visit New York for a week. It’s mainly about that really great week we had together: you have a great week together, but it’s long-distance, so when they leave, you end up really missing them and just wanting them to come back, as the song says."
