an evil album made by an evil person. i still love this record but cannot approach it in the same light as i used to.

Anyone thinking that this record is about being a bad person missed the point completely and is to blame about why monsters like Marshall exist in the first place. The album is about living with untreated BPD (which he's been diagnosed with) and alienation in a context depression and there really is nothing more to it than that. Keep making a taboo out of mental illnesses and loneliness. What could possibly go wong?

well ig sorry for missing the point, i dont have bpd and im not that familiar with it so it was hard to make the association. But still its easy to interpret it as being a bad person when it feels like the aggression we build up put into music and lyrical form. I related to this album because sometimes i get short episodes where i think awful things and its kinda scary when you look back on them, and i think thats a pretty universal thing, so letting out those ugly ugly feelings, like this album represents kinda, would probably make you not a very cool guy

Does having this in my top 4 most scrobbled albums of all time make me a bad person?

Yea. I guess I find it… cathartic to post about stuff like that, there’s no rule against it and I figure since this is a dead site it isn’t bothering nobody.

Just doesn't hit as hard once you discover something that sound even more filthy and disgusting (in this case it's 95% of noise rock albums)

everything that happened lately really ruined the experience with this album for me, i mean i'm not the most "you can't separate the art from the artist" person ever, but this album specially hits some awfully dark places with its lyricism, and knowing the songs were written by a r*pist makes me question if there really is a poetic persona or he's just talking about the place he was mentally and everything that he was thinking in the moment he abused women

fuck I love this album, one of my favourites ever, but thanks to the truly god-awful condemnable shit alexis pulled (and recently new info came out that apparently nick has protected him) dunno if I can ever listen to this again with the same level of enjoyment :/ fuuuuuuuck. I feel so bad for that woman.

Yes ikr. And it's pretty accessible too despite being a noise rock / post hardcore offering. Maybe that's because of the clean production.

It's been nearly two years and I can safely say that this is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

One of the most interesting albums I've listened to production wise. The industrial vibe really suits them.
