an album that, together with Diamond Eyes, changed and shaped modern metal landscape. half of the latest post-hardcore/metalcore releases drank on this fountain of riffs

What an awesome album, possibly their best! Remember loving this since it was new, but hadn't heard much of their stuff for years again until now.

i can't believe I thought this was their worst; i absolutely love it now it sounds so perfectly 2012 (I won't elaborate) and the guitar tone is so hot

Re — Loudwire 2012: When discussing the album's title (a Japanese phrase which approximates the idea of love at first sight), Moreno is upfront about his uncomplicated reasons for choosing it: "I think it's pretty. I read it and it really caught my eye. The way it sounds is very poetic – just the words themselves – and I think that when you read the meaning it's definitely something that speaks to a lot of people – people that have been lucky enough to experience something like that. Funnily enough, Stephen was the one that was pushing for it because he felt that it captured how the record feels to him, and I think that's great because usually he doesn't say anything about my lyrics.

How many of you have felt Koi No Yokan (恋の予感) on meeting someone? That is, you feel you'll both eventually fall in love with each other. A premonition of love if you may (as opposed to the rather common "love at first sight").

To me, it gives off a major Back to School vibe. Just a goofy radio song at the start of the album before the real good shit kicks in

This and White Pony are in competition for the best Deftones album, utterly magnificent, one of the most beautiful Alt.Metal records I've ever heard, love the focus on romance and love. It has Chino's best performances, the choruses are absolutely stellar, the guitars are heavy and dreamy when they need to be.

I have this theory that this is the band's attempt at recreating Saturday Night Wrist again but with a newfound mental tranquility. SNW was created during a time of friction amidst the band and their own lives, and the result is a record that lived and died off that friction, the most ethereal and most violent moment in Deftones' identity merging and jarringly colliding with each other. To me KNY represents the band attempting to collide these two extremes yet again, but the friction has been vanquished and instead the band has reached perfect harmony, every component of what makes Deftones' what they are finally merged together at their most anthemic, most spacious, most atmospherically monolithic. The result is one of the most beautiful metal albums anyone has ever made, and beautiful really is the word - EVERY facet of this record shimmers and glistens with pristine and ethereal clarity much like the cover. To me this is Deftones' best album and will probably remain so forever.
