I thought from the first listen that I mostly enjoyed what I heard. Definitely an interesting record. And it's got the highest rating at RYM so far, huh.

Possessor and Valediction have a great unique combo of synthwave and black metal, I wish there was more like that. And there's nothing wrong with Rites.

Holy molly, it's great, indeed. "combo of synthwave and black metal" Thank you for these words, that was probably the fastest let's-check-it-out move in my life.

Почти, "Non Paradisi" так же крут, как и "Behemoth". И мне очень понравился "Rites Of Love And Reverence"

I feel like the new album follows in the footsteps of Valediction, it's got maybe 3 or 4 good songs I can find myself to come back to, but that's about it. Behemoth and Non Paradisi are still far superior to this unfortunately, but got to respect him trying something different. Guess I'll feel differently about the album as time goes by.

What were the song(s) and also which videogame? Pretty fascinating GosT ends up in a videogame though.

The Textorcist! It's an indie game on Steam. The game is not bad, but I really loved the soundtrack right away! GosT did the whole soundtrack.

Well that probably explains it, indie games are never a scarce on Steam so it makes sense I've missed this one. At least I know what else to try now, since the games I've played recently has been on my library for years. Thanks!

Hi! Few things to start off with =) 1. Yes I added you because you're a female gamer, 'tis and awesome thing to see! 2. I'm Brian 3. Don't be intimidated, but I'm not a stereotypical guy. If anything, I'll be the one in the kitchen =D.

Just picked up Valediction from my local record shop (by mistake). Someone placed it under Ghost, and I guess I didn't pay close enough attention. My disappointment was immeasurable.

'Valediction' has its moments (that are pretty much rare in all of that mess that the album is), but the guy should've been at least thoughtful and put 'Behemoth' or 'Non Paradisi' in there.

One important lesson GosT failed to learn from black metal: Use screams to hide your crummy lyrics. Don't sing them out like 80s wannabe in a 2000s darkwave band.

I like the the new album's mixing of Black Metal vocals into Synthwave. I've been wondering why people don't do much of this already. Seemed like a great idea in my head. "Violence Suppressor" by Irving Force is the closest I've heard up to now.

New album is weird. Beginning of it sounds like synthpop married Anaal Nathrakh. And even if I like AN so much, it's not my cup of tea this time. Later is more synthwave/darksynth related, but nothing special for me. And last two-three songs are probably the strongest part: it plays with AN/black metallish/Possessor sounds again, but this time with better sense of playing it. Also.. it was weird to hear very Project Pitchforkish drums on the beginning of "Ligature Marks". Instant reminder, but it made me smile.

It's you again! I've found it less cohesive than Possessor, for some reason - even though the songs of possessor differed in style - it felt like an album experience. Valediction feels more like a collection of songs so far. Even though he's mixed all the aspects of Possessor into the songs. Ligature marks is possibly my favourite.

I agree that it's less cohesive than Possessor. Call of the Faithful and She Lives in Red Light were released as singles at the start of the year and they really didn't fit in Valediction's style, so it's kinda weird they'd appear on the album. They're slightly re-mixed and I think She Lives in Red Light has some new vocals, but still, yeah. Still a huge fan of this one!

I appreciate the experimentation in Possessor. I thought Non Paradisi was pretty repetitive and kinda boring honestly, so it's nice to see more variety in there.

Heavier parts of Possessor sound alternatively like a toothless version of Street Sects or a more boring Cattle Decapitation or Agoraphobic Nosebleed.

"Possessor" is weird. In one hand (unpopular opinion) : it's worst album by far, or at least I don't feel it in any way after two listens. In second hand: it's different, it's dark, and it's most diversified one - and that's great, as I really wanted GosT to be less repetitive. And let's take song like Garruth: behemoth on wheels, beating you to the ground. Sigil - beautiful reminder of 80s new wave, kinda new type of song for GosT. Also, two songs reminding me black metal (Legion, Commandment) are quite unnecessary, but in the same time add some charm, and creates more consistent hardcore-oriented image of album. Eh, that's weird enough, that I probably will relisten his whole discography to know better what to think.

I still think he's pretty far from perfect in trying to adapt metal sounds into an electronic format. I really like what he's trying to do at the moment though, even if at times it still sounds a little off somewhat. Gost always felt a little (for lack of a better term) 'flawed' to me as compared to other artists like Perturbator. It kinda makes Gost all the more compelling to me, somehow.

the album on its own fails in my opinion, but it blends extremely well with all the other tracks during a live show.

and when I say "fail", I mean is less diverse than anything else in the genre. But I applaud the experimentation though. break some eggs etc.

What's more diverse than this? Most of the other bands from this genre I listen to are rather samey compared to the new GosT. Hence I'm loving it.

Possessor is his best album to date imo, and one of the best I've ever heard in thsi genre.

Give the Carpenter Brut another chance. Yeah it's a bit poppy, but you can hear the viciousness still, and it's part of a new trilogy, so next one might emphasize the bangers!
