Possibly my favorite Dead song (though "Sugar Magnolia" makes it hard for me to say that with certainty.) Amazing harmonies and the melodies are insanely catchy.

As soon as I hear those chords, I'm in Dead heaven. By the way, that SongFacts is wrong. Steppenwolf's "The Pusher" had the epithet "God Damn" several years before. I'm sure there were others as well, but that's the earliest I could think of.

http://www.foundingfathers.info/stories/gadsden.html Their walls are built of cannon balls.. Their motto is - "Don't tread on me" ....------> Meaning don't try and take my personal freedoms & liberties away from me. As poignant now as it was back then in the 18th century. Thank you Col. Gadsden.

A work colleague remarked ' what's this shit ' . Funeral details will appear later. Now that's Grateful Dead.

Come hear Uncle John's Band by the riverside, Got some things to talk about, here beside the rising tide. Come hear Uncle John's Band playing to the tide, Come on along, or go alone, he's come to take his children home. Wo, oh, what I want to know, how does the song go. Freude, Gänsehaut und Tränen zugleich....
