Masterpiece. Absolutely stunning! The musicianship and song-writing are spot-on. Also, Michael Denner is so good he doesn't need any "glam metal hair" or guitar to pose with on his album photo. What an underrated guitar player, and Andy LaRocque as well.

Every bit as good as Don't Break the Oath and Melissa, IMO. Mikkey Dee and Andy LaRocque shine once again, as they did on Fatal Portrait; one of the best drummers of all time and one of the best guitar players ever, too. I would say this is probably the best King Diamond record, although "Them" comes very close to matching or even beating it.

Metality
Words cannot describe my love for this. The guitars are amazing, the drumming outstanding, and the vocals are mostly top notch, if an acquired taste (God knows they were for me - so glad I got past that). Wish I could comment on bass, but that's slightly difficult. Absolutely among the best heavy metal ever, and worthy of a fuckton more recognition.

I started listening to this in the dark by candlelight and have flicked the lights on a couple times since then! masterfully creepy album!

I know the whole package is a masterpiece, but one of the most overlooked aspects of this great album are Mikkey Dee's drum grooves. The ones in 1777 and Omens are AWESOME.
