FATHER OF 4 is Offset’s debut solo studio album. Its title is referencing his fatherhood of four children, Jordan, Kody, Kalea, and Kulture. The album boasts features from J. Cole, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Gunna, Quavo, Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, and more.

On October 31, 2018, Offset mysteriously tweeted his birthday, which fans assumed was a tease of his solo project’s release date. Quavo continued to tease the album on November 4, 2018, when he posted his and Takeoff’s albums to Instagram, captioning the post:

"2 D O W N 1 M O T O G O"

Then, on November 6, 2018, Offset tweeted his birthdate again, except it was the date in 2018, confirming the album’s original release date.
Billboard published an interview with Offset on November 20, 2018. In the interview, the album was still untitled, and Offset stated that it would be featureless, which turned out to be false.

On November 30, 2018, one of the album’s tracks, “Red Room,” was unintentionally put on streaming services. Although it was quickly removed, the song was still spread around the internet. It was officially released alongside its music video on February 14, 2019.

On February 10, 2019, Offset officially declared the album’s release date and announced that it would be accompanied by a documentary.

On the day before its release, Offset revealed the album’s title, tracklist, and artwork.
