I took them for granted. They're from my hometown & listening to their stuff now, so much of that was all over Aussie radio when I was in high school. I wasn't into this kinda rock back then, but now, call it nostalgia or my vastly broadened musical palette, but I almost get chills listening to Powderfinger these days. Typical old man stuff like missing how simple life was back then despite taking it (and myself)so damn serious. The things that were the center of my universe that didn't amount to a hill of beans, while the priceless memories I didn't appreciate in the moment. Don't we all want to have a stern word with our younger selves? How's this for a random assed ramble. Well, this is what comes to mind when I listen to 'em. I always love reading other people's recollections about music & what it means to them, what it makes them feel, that's so powerful & can make strangers feel like family. Or maybe I'm just weird. Yeah, definitely weird.

Powderfinger regroups For 'One Night Lonely' live in 2020. After a decade long hiatus, iconic Australian band Powderfinger tuned up and gave a little happiness to fans during these challenging days. The title signifies the one off nature of this event and points towards the very important charities the band are supporting, Beyond Blue and Support Act. With a nation-wide viewership, Powderfinger raised over $500,000 for these two charities. With millions of album sales in Australia alone, Powderfinger continue to captivate millions of listeners every month across streaming services and radio. In April 2010 Powderfinger announced they were calling it a day. The band embarked on their Sunsets Farewell Tour, playing to over 300,000 people along the way, and on 13 November 2010 they played their last gig, until now… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_V5jNSYjAs

Unreleased is excellent. Speaks to the talent of the band that all these songs never made it on an album.

Almost honouring vintage Powderfinger, Bernard's new record Departures is such a fantastic collection of songs, at Happy we couldn't be more proud or supportive! http://hhhhappy.com/2013/05/28/bernard-fanning-arrived/

Odyssey is pretty good, but still overrated. Internationalist was the best, absolutely no bad songs, and Golden Rule was beast too.

Odyssey Number Five is a fucking masterpiece. It's essentially, my childhood summed up in an album.
