Первые песни на альбоме внушали оптимизм, но потом всё скатилось в полную нудятину... В общем - совсем не моё.

I'm guessing there is no chance of hearing Tomcats live, ever. And that ruins my life. [2]

OUTSTANDING musician and vocalist. He is definitely my favorite half of TFF, but Curt Smith is really quite talented as well. "Tomcats Screaming Outside" I purchased when it came out in 2001 and you had to REALLY search for it to find it since it was on a virtually unknown label and I saw ZERO promotion for it upon release.....a damn shame because it is a FANTASTIC album with many great tracks!

Totally agree lizzy -- I really don't understand the way some people tag their music. On the plus side, 'Tomcats' is a fantastic album :D

Tomcats is my most treasured album of all-time. My scrobbles don't prove that, but if we could have done scrobbles from our CD player back in the day, this album would take the cake. I fell asleep to it every single night. <3

I agree with liztener2008 here. Roland is, undeniably, the more obviously talented of the two, in the sense that he is the one we identify with as the inspired, creative genius, and like many others I have always admired his vocal/writing prowess. But isn't it always the way with pop groups that when the front man goes it alone -- listening, perhaps, to too many people flattering their ego and telling them they are the one that really matters -- that something is lost. Front man, song writer, lead singer... Yes, all of these. And immensely talented. But it's never the whole story. Maybe every Sherlock needs a Watson, every Hardy needs a Laurel, someone that provides balance and makes sense of them, anchors them somehow. I'm not saying I don't like Rolands solo work. I do. But as has been noted, the TFF chemistry is just that bit more somehow...

My two cents & just my opinion: Roland is, for the most part, a brilliant & vastly underrated songwriter. Not always great but, he's hit the mark more than enough times. Even the songs I don't care for usually have terrific lyrics. I don't think many out there can top him lyrically. Of the two (Curt & Roland), Roland has always been my fave. I prefer him solo and prefer his voice. However, I think Curt deserves more credit than he gets. TFF together have a special and interesting chemistry. You can't say that Curt has no part in that. It's not just Roland hauling the load. Also, I have really come to see Curt as a brilliant bassist. Both are tremendous musicians and great together. Love them both. Love TFF. Love that they got back together. Hope they do it again.

Sorry Kamila_C, I think Curt solo is soup. I agree with nixhex4311, though I still think that 1) most casual TFF listeners don't even know who Orzabal is, 2) TSO could even be tagged Electro. It is the consecration of a decade of experimentation (the TFF album ELAHE is so dull and mellow in comparison...).

Greatest tonal quality of voice to come out of the 80's. His solo album is completely under rated because he didn't use the tears for fears name (in spite of the fact that the last 2 to 3 albums were strictly Roland.) It is hard to find, but you MUST have it if you love tears for fears.
