The debut album from Portland, Oregon electro-synth-handmade-pop band Starfucker. It was primarily recorded in songwriter Josh Hodges bedroom and was released (on Badman Recording Co.) in September of 2008 on CD, digital download and LP. The LP version contains the bonus track "Pistol Pete." With notable live performances that featured some instrument swapping, dual drumming, and stage diving, as well as some outlandish costumes, Badman founder Dylan Magierek's attention was drawn to their set and he signed the band to the label. Hodges and Magierek took some of the home recordings to Magierek's Type Foundry studio to round out the record with some intricate layering, and the album was released to the public and hailed by critics for its abundance of dance-friendly hooks. Experiencing some mainstream success in the form of a Target campaign that sampled "Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second," the band wrestled with a name change, considering PYRAMID and Pyramiddd in their short list of options. Luckily they later returned to Starfucker and continue to make albums under that name.
