The Lemon of Pink is the second album by The Books, released October 7, 2003 on the Tomlab record label. Initial critical response to The Lemon of Pink was very positive. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 86, based on 9 reviews. The online webzine Pitchfork Media placed "The Lemon of Pink" 20th on their top 100 albums of 2000-2004 "That Right Ain't Shit" was used as the soundtrack in an advertisement for a Hummer vehicle. "Tokyo" was used in a commercial for spreading awareness of HIV.
