Good band, but very much on the more melancholic side of shoegaze and dreampop.

Have I gone partially deaf over the last decade or is the rhytm section on “Creation” not nearly as tight as on “Drowned”? I really enjoyed the driving punchy bass on their debut (some of the best in the genre, second only to Nick Chaplin), and the incredibly balanced, rich and focused sound overall. “Creation” just sounds sort of loose and thin in comparison. The bass isn’t nearly as prominent, the drums sound distant and sometimes overly processed, both lacking the incedibly warm natural sound of the debut. Ocasionally the vocal mix distracts rather than comlent the songs. Don’t get me wrong, “Creation” is a solid record from a compositional standpoint, just not crazy about the way it sounds. It’s spacious, filled with huge, booming instruments which don’t always complement each other. Oh, well, let me go crank up “The Kraken” again. Regardless of this release, it’s great to have The Daysleepers back in the game!

I will say that they are a little different stylistically! Creation reminds me a bit of the band Hammock, with its bigger, more spacious sound... Drowned is certainly more of a punchy album! It just depends on the kind of music you prefer, I suppose :') I like Creation a little bit more because of its less "tight" sound, but both albums have great songs on them...

I did an interview with Jeff where he talks about the ten years hiatus, his inspirations and the new album - https://rebobinadosblog.wordpress.com/2018/09/07/the-daysleepers-volta-com-novo-disco-apos-hiato-de-dez-anos/

Thank you for your Creation LP. It's a huge album. Beauty and depth. Brilliance in the middle of so much darkness... lifting you up and getting you to a safer place. Only shoegaze music can do that to me nowadays.

Their new singles are amazing and their lp is going to be the best thing out this year.

Their cover of The Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" is actually rather solid.

Their website (which was a blogger.com blog) is gone. There's a Facebook page, but who knows if it's them or just a "fan page". So sad, I know it's a hobby project for people who are employed full time and have families, but with their success (by indie standards, of course) and adoration by a world wide fan base, you'd think they'd like to put out new material.

I immediately downloaded Dream Within A Dream World from itunes without listening to it ( because .. you know: It's The Daysleepers ) .... at first I was a little bumbed. Where are those beautiful shoegazey guitars? Then I listened to it a few times. Yes it's more of a pop sound. ... but it has a great melody and it's really catchy. Nothing wrong with that. :)

I can hardly hear the daysleepers in this new song. It's a great song, but I long back to their usual sound.. http://vimeo.com/99470273
