This is a flawed Stones album – namely the country take on "Honky Tonk Women" is far inferior to the single version, "Live with Me" is an edgy and somewhat boring rocker, and "You Got the Silver" is good but not a great tune. But man, the highs here are just astronomical. Everybody loves the opener and closer here but "Midnight Rambler", much like its subject matter, is a silent killer. Tremendous work of Keith's. The title track's my personal favorite as well. You can always count on Mick to deliver lyrics that perfectly balance between intriguing and gross – same goes for "Monkey Man". Six tracks in here are A+, a pinnacle of rock music... the rest... not quite up to part in this cast in my opinion.

I really wanted to like this album but the only songs I enjoy so far are Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler and Monkey Man. Not a bad album though...just not my cup of tea.

By no means. There's really no BAD song here (although I find "Live with Me" particularly subpar), this is a phenomenal album—tracks #2, #5, #6, #8,#9 are one of their best musically, lyrically, and emotionally.. I agree it doesn't get better after the opening track but "Gimme Shelter" is so perfect that not many songs match it overall. It still fuckin' bangs.. such an angry and athirst record. Their 2ⁿᵈ/3ʳᵈ best.

Uma pena que o Brian Jones toca em apenas uma faixa do álbum, excelente estréia com o Mick Taylor e um álbum fantástico do começo ao fim, country, blues e rock'n'roll do começo ao fim.

This is the most country inflected album of their career and it bears the influence of Keith's friendship with Gram Parsons. Many people consider this to be their best record, and it's easy to see why, as it is an incredible piece of work. The original album jacket advised listeners to "play it loud," and that's as it should be. Not an especially hard rocking album for the most part, but it sounds great at top volume.
