Hey, Thank you so much man!!! So you thought that was the strongest of the set of songs!? Thats cool. Yeah, i don't really have proper recording gear or much knowledge of recording music. I will one day have an ep recording properly and then spread it around the internet as much as possible. They're really just demos. They could be real, though. Do you have any suggestions!? Thanks Again Matt

That's too bad about the old-school DBT fans! I guess the newer ones do sound fairly different from their first few records, but like you, I started with a later one, so I'm fine with what they've been doing lately. I do know McKinnon from Deadwood; I saw the first season of it and really liked it, but I lost track and haven't finished the rest; probably going to try to soon. He's done a few full-length indie films which I haven't yet seen; The Accountant was his first film, though it was a short (which he got an Oscar for!) Recently he created the new series Rectify, which is bloody brilliant and also worth looking into, in my humble opinion. (I was also very excited when I heard a DBT song pop up in the background on one of the episodes :D) What shows have you been watching lately? I've been on a fairly big TV binge so I've watched quite a few in the last couple months.

Woah I actually forgot about Go-Go Boots, how could I do that? I think that might be my actual favorite DBT record, but then again, there are so many, and they're all good in their own unique way, so it's hard to pick, haha.

It's funny, I'm in a similar situation with you about knowing their music for years but missing out on some albums, but instead of recently listening to Dirty South, it was Brighter than Creation's Dark for me (as well as A Blessing and a Curse). I agree with your picks, but I'm really warming to Blessing/Curse (even though according to Patterson Hood it's their most polarizing record). I have to admit that part of my renewed adoration is because I've recently fallen in love with the work of Ray McKinnon, and he's collaborated with Patterson Hood a number of times (Sink Hole was inspired by his short film The Accountant -- I was shocked because I'd just watched that film recently, and even though I've loved Sink Hole for a long time, I didn't realize they were related!) I agree about their music being rich with nuance, and I'm enamored with their narrative prowess. And yes, I'm eager for Killing S3! I'm surprised they brought it back considering how outraged many viewers were, haha.

YES! I'm really in love with them right now, glad I also know someone who's really into them too. What's your favorite DBT album?

Sadly I found out who John Lurie is through Jarmusch movies.Damn he seemed like a legend with sax in Permanent Vacation.Wow that's how you find out that he is a professional musician?nice!Yeah they used one of The Clash's songs in the movie as well.It was alright but I just don't like such movies.Howdy neighbor.Yeah we're sorta neighbors.Yeah that's because I usually talk to people from abroad and I didn't set the country on my profile that's why you thought so :)

any genre of music as long as it comes good to you, right?Yeah I see.For example I used to dislike Jazz music. And now I adore John Lurie & his music and other ones like Charlie Parker,Billie Holiday,Frank Sinatra etc..Yeah indeed!I don't need to listen anything else.Yeah like the smiths. And damn they got so popular after that movie called 500 days of Summer.Still pisses me off but it's The smiths you know what I mean?I've wasted so many years on not listening British Bands, what a waste.!You have to atleast give a shot about Alice In Chains or Mad Season (which was the side band of lead singer of Alice In Chains) That's alright I don't even near to Us,I'm from Turkey.

Haha, yeah, even when Mad Men sometimes (perhaps rarely) disappoints in the eyes of its fans, it's still miles better than most of anything else we could be watching! ;) And yeah, I loved talking TV with you too! I will definitely check out Breaking Bad; I really like Walter and Jesse, from what I've seen of them, so far so I don't doubt I'd really enjoy the series :D

I think the biggest thing is the shift in Draper's character. Plus, like you said, season four was hugely focused on him as a character so there was that slight overarching tonal change. Plot-wise, the characters are exploring new areas; storytelling-wise, not so much. So season 4 wasn't all that radically different from the others, haha. I think what kind of made me a little less excited about season four was the extra focus on Don as a character (and since he's exploring new territory, at work and at home, trying to adjust to being alone again, I couldn't feel as excited about him as I was did in, say, seasons 1 and 2, if only because he was a slightly more whole character then). I will disagree about the season 3 finale though; there were bits of whimsical antics, but it had enough of an emotional payoff (and was just great to watch, in my opinion, dialogue and story-wise) that it worked satisfyingly (again, IMO). But yeah, it's an incredibly complex show, which is why I adore it <3

Oh hey, Jon Hamm signed for another 3 years on Mad Men? I think three seasons will be enough time to explore Don Draper some more <3 He's so great as Don; it's awesome.

Yeah, you make a good point, and I understand why it happened (although it was a long time ago so my memory's really hazy). But maybe I was expecting a little too much? Or maybe I'm clinging to the tone of the first two seasons like a dying man, haha. I know that this whole season was about taking a new direction, new risks, etc., but I kind of felt a little disconnect with Draper throughout the latter half of the season; I guess that might have been the point, but still... Of course, "The Suitcase" episode was easily what MADE season 4 for me (and I consider it probably one of the all-time best episodes in terms of the series), and that made me remember what I loved so much about the series. But I feel like season 4 was probably a bridge, if anything, to the future, so I guess I will have to see what happens next season to maybe start to, hm, appreciate it more, since it felt kind of transitional.

Yeah exactly! The characters are what make the show, not so much the plot anymore, and that's why I still love it too :D Haha, I think I'm going to try to catch up on all the seasons of Breaking Bad before it starts in July (I watched the first few eps a couple months ago and thought they were quite wicked). And yeah, I'm a little sad that I won't get to do my annual Mad Men daily marathon before the new season starts this summer... Although to be totally honest I was a little disappointed in the season 4 finale.

As for the rest of the characters, I found the Richmond campaign interesting early on in the season, and I was impressed in the first few episodes with how the show explored the parents’ grief (the funeral scene was pretty remarkable). Brent Sexton's performance as Stan was so good that I couldn't help but feel for him either. The plot holes are bizarre but I never paid any mind until my attention was called to them (maybe I'm just oblivious), and I didn’t mind the rain; I liked the atmosphere of the series and there was enough comic relief to keep the show from becoming a gloom-fest. But I share the same hopes as you – hopefully the writers will start paying attention to the complaints and start to make some improvements. I still love this show, but I want to be able to love it madly, haha. I hear rumors The Killing will be back in October but seems so unlikely… I agree, I think it’s maddening that we have to wait a whole year; I’m sure audience attrition will be way worse by then.

I agree; I've never been one to try and pursue the murder mystery; I usually allow the writers to just take me on whatever ride they choose, but now the train has kind of come off the tracks and, like you said, it's kind of hard for any of us to go from there. But I think the reason I still keep coming back is for the characters; they're all interesting in their own weird way, and even though the series kind of dipped in excitement/interest midway through the season they picked it back up with the Linden/Holder bonding episode, which was necessary for us to keep on caring. Which is why I'm really worried about the Holder plot twist -- how could he possibly get out of that situation without being seriously reprimanded? The consequence for supplying evidence has got to be big-time, unless he lies about it, which'll make me even sadder :( But now that Linden knows, their trust is probably going to be on thin ice once season 2 hits...

I know what you mean; it would've made more sense for them to do it the same way the Danish series did (since even the showrunner said that she'd rather have more time for the Larsen case like they did in Forbrydelsen). But as far as I know AMC has never had a series with more than 13-episode seasons; they're fairly new at the serial drama thing (lucked out with Mad Men <3) so maybe they're just not financially equipped to produce an extra 7 eps. Plus it's a more expensive gamble if a 20-episode series tanks than if a 13-episode series does. Oh, I'm totally curious about how you felt towards the finale! Betrayed? Excited? I know the outrage (even from critics) has been phenomenal -- I've been reading reviews all day -- and every derisive review or remark has made me more and more depressed, since the series is so dear to me. Personally the only thing that upset me was the Holder reveal (how could they do that after the "Missing" episode?!) but beyond that I thought it was pretty cool.

I actually haven't seen any of Todd Haynes' other stuff (though I've been meaning to watch Far from Heaven for the longest time), but I was pleasantly surprised by Mildred Pierce. Very enjoyable series. And yes! "Adorable" is EXACTLY how I'd describe him. ;)

Heh, cheers for that. Nice tunes you've got, and thanks for joining the Craigy group! And yeah, I've got a soft spot in my heart for super-zealous and slightly creepy prohibition agents :) (Btw, I thought Mildred Pierce was fabulous too! Excellent taste in TV.)
